This work is personal to me

My path into health was not a straight one. It came through years of feeling like something was wrong in my body, while being told everything was “normal.”

Growing up, I never felt well. I struggled with intense anxiety, energy crashes, and a level of sensitivity that made everyday life feel harder than it seemed for other people. Like many young women, I was told birth control was the answer, that my lab work looked fine, and that medication would help manage what I was feeling. For a long time, I believed that was the only path forward.

But by my early twenties, my health had deteriorated in a way I could no longer ignore. I was vomiting every day, my stomach was painfully distended, and I knew deep down that something bigger was being missed. I was told I needed gallbladder surgery, even after imaging came back clear. That was the moment everything shifted for me. I realized I needed to start asking different questions.

As I began educating myself and looking deeper, I discovered I had celiac disease. But that was only one piece of the puzzle. For years, I had also been living with crippling anxiety, exhaustion, and a nervous system that always felt overwhelmed. I had trouble getting out of bed, holding down a job, and functioning the way I wanted to. In my family, some of these patterns were often dismissed as laziness or personality, but I knew there had to be more to the story.

When I eventually explored my genetic data, I found information that helped me better understand why my body responded the way it did. Learning about methylation, stress response, and how genetics can influence the way we process the world gave me a framework that finally made sense. More importantly, it showed me that while genetics may inform our tendencies, they do not have to define our future.

As I began making targeted changes to my lifestyle, nutrition, stress management, and overall health approach, the fog that had followed me for most of my life slowly began to lift.

That experience changed everything.

I became deeply committed to understanding the body as an interconnected system. I spent years studying functional health, running and reviewing my own lab work, and learning how genetics, hormones, nervous system health, nutrition, and lifestyle all influence one another. Piece by piece, I put myself back together in a way I had never experienced through conventional care alone.

Over time, that personal healing journey naturally turned into helping others. I began supporting friends and family with lab interpretation, lifestyle recommendations, and wellness guidance. I also started consulting with longevity clinics on hormone replacement and the ways genetic patterns can influence response to care.

What once felt like a burden has become my purpose.

There was a time when I constantly asked, “Why is this happening to me?” Now I understand that this path gave me the perspective to help people who feel overlooked, dismissed, or told that everything is fine when they know it isn’t. I created Modern Thriving for the people who have been handed normal labs, quick prescriptions, or surface-level answers, while still feeling far from well.

I am currently in school to become a nurse practitioner, with the long-term goal of building a practice where I can help people more fully through hormones, peptides, lifestyle support, weight loss, nervous system regulation, and personalized wellness care. Until then, my goal is to help guide people, educate them, advocate for deeper understanding, and support them in navigating a health system that can often feel overwhelming.

This is my path, and I’m so glad you’re here choosing to care for yourself
